´#Dealing with an aggressive dog#

With a proper traning you can be changed your aggressive Dog as well behaved companion of you.

2nd exercise

5th patients
6th optional

What are the potantially serious consequence for the dog agression seek proffetional guidence
1) Understand the nature of the dog frestation for aggressive behavior ,feelfulness and dominance.
What is unacceptable behavior in the first place, especially during your dog's puppy years, before it develops the habit of biting your hands and clothes can save you a lot of trouble in the future.

Many experts believe that the critical socialization period for puppies is from birth until 6 months of age. Ideally the puppy will associate all types of people, whether they are male or female, adult or child, dark skin or light skin, wearing glasses or a baseball hat, with good things. Puppies can also learn bite inhibition, where they learn to use a soft mouth

A typical example of this would be a dog who growls, barks and lunges at other dogs while walking on leash. Since the presence of other dogs is what trigger the dog to act anxious, angry, or afraid; every time the dog sees another dog he/she will be given delicious pieces of ham (or anything else the dog loves) to counter the aggressive behavior!

punishing aggressive behavior is the most incorrect action a person can take against a dog who is displaying aggressive behavior. Punishing the dog or yelling at it may encourage the dog to become more aggressive, putting you or someone else safety in further danger.

2) Take the aggressive Dog to a Bednerian to eliminate medical tretment for the behaviour
Take appropriate action early on, when your dog is still a puppy and behavior modification is easier. Seek professional help from a qualified expert who understands aggression and will not exacerbate the problem. When dealing with aggression, it is always best to work with a qualified professional if there is one in your area. This should be one-on-one training in your home or in-kennel training. A kennel environment is the best and often the only way to effectively deal with certain types of aggression -- where the dog can be socialized and worked with daily. In a few cases, after evaluating the dog, a qualified professional may advise you that aggressive modification is not possible and that the dog should never be around people under any circumstances.

3)Ecersise you dog gradully for release patient of energy and establish a balanced in mental state
If you contact a no kill rescue group or shelter, you must reveal the problem. Ask if they have programs to modify aggressive behavior. If they do not and you are able to do so, you may want to pay for the dog's training so he will have a better chance of finding a good adult-only home.

Some types of aggression may be modified and are OK in adult-only homes. Consider this, but the dog should be trained and controllable. Find the right home with adults who understand aggression and how to handle it.

Some aggressive dogs, even after training and modification, need to be kept away from people and and other animals, and they need to be confined to a safe and enclosed run with shelter in the yard. If you do not have control of the dog, the risks and liability issues are grave. This option is not suitable for everyone.

There are more than 5,000,000 reported dog bites a year just in the U.S. and as many or more unreported. A few aggressive dogs cannot be helped. For the sake of those unsafe dogs that are leading miserable lives, and for the safety of people and other animals, when modification and control are not possible, the only responsible choice is euthanasia. This is a painful choice and one that no dog owner should have to endure. But in these cases, your love for the dog may help you realize that this is the best and often only choice you can make.

4) Establish an interrelationship between you and Dog and underline that you are the Boss for the Dog and use a dominan face to controle the aggression

OK, now that you’re relaxed, it’s time to assess what actually happened, and take responsibility for your part in it. If there are medical/veterinary bills to pay, you might want to offer to pay them. If you’re really worried about the consequences, you can call a lawyer to find out your rights. These are all just steps that you should take. Take one right step, then take the next right step. That’s all you can do.

Hold on – take a break. Revisit Step One and relax again.

Next thing you need to assess is what actually happened. Now most of you are going to assess your dog’s aggressive behavior based on what you THINK you know about “why dogs are aggressive”. Your conclusions will be things like “my dog was trying to protect me” or “that little poodle got too close” or “my dog was afraid that Jimmy was going to eat his kibble” – whatever. It’s time to throw all those thoughts aside

5) set a boundary for agressive dog and you tocommunicate clearly
You can boundary train your dog by applying the tips below in a consistent and positive fashion.
One other beneficial point about this topic. * Start the boundary training by marking the perimeter of the desired area with a marker of string or rope-something visible. Put him on his leash and walk with him around the inside of the new perimeter markers. You can walk close to the marker, but not so close that the dog can cross it. If your dog tries to step past the edge of the boundary marker, just lightly tug on his leash, and firmly command “no” before he can cross the line. When he comes back to you, praise him and give him his rewards-affection and a treat. If he does try to cross the line, remember not to punish him for trying to go past the boundary-just concentrate on rewarding him for not doing so. Be sure to repeat the training several times a day until your dog gets the idea. Dogs are smart, and before long he should learn his boundary.

6) keep people safe until curing of your Dog agggressiveness

#memory of Basenjis Dog#

The memory of a dog cannot be compared to the memory of a human due to the differences between brain anatomy and sense receptors hunters, protectors and communicators with their pack.
Dog memories are associative. That means they attach people and places to things they can hear and smell. Your voice and your smell are things a dog can remember all her life
Dogs are equipped with a superior sense of smell and hearing, which was helpful in their own survival as hunters, protectors and communicators with their pack. In this way, dogs perceive and behave in their worlds in different ways than humans do.
A dog will "remember" your scent and the sound of your voice in a way that a human cannot even imagine. It is this sensory memory that a dog's recognition of you is built on. Of course different breeds and individual animals vary in their ability to "remember" their sensory input.
Also, some dogs are better learners than others, just like humans. Keep in mind that your pet's memory is not built on
how long a time you have been away, but your pet's ability to have a sensory memory and pleasant activities associated with the scent and sound of you. Dogs can't tell time or how many days you have been gone, but they have very long sensory memories.

#Vocal sounds of Basenjis#

Basenjis don’t bark, but they have a variety of vocal sounds, sometimes accompanied by expressive body signals. What says the voice of the Basenji to us? Their yodel, a demonstration of enjoyment, is well known to many Basenji owners. It can happen that the dog signals his presence and his needs. Basenjis yodel when they want to reinforce the cohesion in the pack or when each member has to rejoin the group. I do it in the same way with my loudly yodelling. It works very well. My Basenjis return when they are off their leash. Unfortunately, for many Basenjis yodeling is not encouraged. They learn it in the pack. Nowadays the human owner has to be the teacher and has to show the dog how to yodel. Sorry to say some Basenjis do not like to yodel or are not allowed by the alpha dog.

Many people hold the misconception that Basenjis are "silent" dogs because they don't make a barking noise like most dogs, they are by no means quiet. The vocal cords of the Basenji are unique and unlike others of the dog world. They allow the Basenji to make a howling noise, a baroo or a yodeling noise, and in some cases even a muted bark. With such an vocal repertoire at their disposal, each Basenji is unique in the noises it chooses to make, and not all Basenjis choose to howl or even yodel. Our BRAT boy Sanji does a very loud yodel when he wants something that is out of his reach. He also screams as high as a young child, if he is imposed upon or someone steps on his foot accidentally. In the evening when the boys are settling down, Sanji will do a high pitched growl to get Gumbo to hold still so that he can clean his ears. The growls of a loved Basenji are generally not a warning growl like the sound a dog makes before a bite, but more like a grumbling old person.

##Basenji as a talking dog (what do u mean by Basenji dog)##

The Basenji originates from Zaire, although drawings of very similar canines have been found on ancient Egyptian tombs. This breed is also known as the Congo Dog, and it is thought that the Basenji may have stemmed from a hunting dog used in the Congo by Pygmies. The year 1934 saw the introduction of the Basenji to Europe, and it was not until the 1940s that the breed was brought to America. The American Kennel Club first registered the breed in 1944.
Owners of more than one Basenji will notice how intensively they communicate with each other, i.e. “talk”. Basenjis may also speak to their owners if they feel up to understand the Basenji Language. Vice versa Basenji owners can communicate appropriate to the Basenjis if they use the Basenji Language , first of all to use the body gesture. The body gesture of the owner could be learn to use a hand signal in a very good animal school.
The Basenji Language consists of vocal sounds and body gestures. Because people should not humanize dogs, we need to learn the signals and their vocal sounds. We do well to understand their body gestures and to interpret vocal sounds the right way. Vice versa, make sure,
Basenjiis able to understand your signals correctly. It is a pity to hear again and again that both man and dog, are unable to understand each other. Very often this is the reason, damages happen and the dog is given away or put to sleep.

In experience it has been very helpful for our understanding to copy Basenji Language. The long time If you live together with Basenjis, you have found out it's supporting to learn the Basenji Language. The first thing we notice is that our many movements are interpreted differently by our dogs than we mean them to be and vice versa. The same applies accordingly to the vocal sounds. At first the Basenjis found it very funny, when I started to imitate and to interpret, but it works very well. I'm working with this program. If you learn the Basenji Language you will get a satisfied dog and that makes you happy.

##Common Health and Behavioral Problems of Basenji

Basenjis are curious, active and self-directed by nature. If they are bored or anxious, they can get into a lot of trouble emptying trash cans, chewing furniture, eating shoes and clothing, exploring the cat box, and destroying a wide variety of things that would absolutely amaze you! Never underestimate the wily nature of a Basenji. These activities give them great pleasure and using force or severe discipline will not change their predisposition to do them. The best strategy is to remove the temptations. Put shoes away and waste baskets out of reach. Close doors and crate or kennel them if they will be unsupervised for any long period of time—at least until they can be trusted.
The basenji breed unfortunately is plagued with a number of health problems. You, as someone looking for a reputable breeder, need to educate yourself about these problems. Only then can you ask intelligent questions, and make educated decisions.

Having only been owned by basenjis for 8 years, I am still learning. The following is what I have found in my research, and how I understand it. However, information is constantly changing, and I urge you to seek other sources also. Arm yourself with as much info as you can find.
Fanconi Syndrome: a kidney disease that affects the normal processing of sugars and proteins. Most dogs with this disease are diagnosed between the ages of 4 and 7, however it does show up in older and younger dogs. Responsible breeders think very carefully about breeding male basenjis younger than 4, and bitches younger than 3. Years ago, it was fatal, a short time after being diagnosed. However, Dr Steve Gonto has developed a protocol that has done wonders for increasing the life expectancy of Fanconi sufferers. But my research has found that Fanconi is an ugly disease, often heartbreaking, and though the afflicted dogs can be managed, it is expensive, time consuming, and not always successful.

It is not known how Fanconi is inherited, but there is evidence it is found more in some lines than others. But Fanconi has also popped up in pedigrees of dogs with no known Fanconi sufferers in their past. Right now, there is no test to determine if a basenji pup will develop Fanconi. This means that breeders can not guarantee that a puppy will not become afflicted. Reputable breeders will tell you which dogs in their pedigrees have Fanconi, produced Fanconi, have littermates with Fanconi, or have grandparents or parents with Fanconi. Armed with that information, you will be better able to make a decision regarding the puppy you purchase.

IPSID: (immunoproliferative systemic intestinal disease) To be honest, I am still researching this disease. I have not been able to find much info, but what I have found says that it is inherited, it is fatal (but dogs can be treated and maintained for quite some time), and that afflicted dogs have chronic diarrhea and anorexia.

Hemolytic Anemia: A type of anemia that cannot be cured, and afflicted pups die early. It is a simple recessive, and we have a test to determine which dogs are clear or carriers. Reputable breeders will know their dogs' HA status before breeding. Because of the test, there is absolutely no reason for basenjis with HA to be born.

Hypothyroidism: This seems to be quite common in basenjis, and very easily and inexpensively treated.

Persistent Pupillary Membrane: (PPM) After a puppy's eyes open, the pupillary membrane is dissolved. Sometimes it doesn't dissolve completely, leaving behind strands, known as PPM. If a dog has a few strands, their sight is not affected. But it seems just a few years ago, there were litters born who were blind because of so much PPM. Fortunately, that degree of PPM is very rare in well bred litters. It is a condition common in basenjis, and good breeders are very careful when breeding to lesson the chances of heavy PPM in their litter's eyes.

Coloboma: this is a hole in some part of the eye's structure. It seems to be hereditary. The severity of the effects is determined by what part of the eye is affected. Dogs with this condition should not be bred.

Progressive Retinal Atrophy: PRA is a major concern in basenjis, and from what I've read, seems to be increasing. The retina is slowly and continually damaged, and results in blindness. It is very frustrating, as it's onset is later, usually after a dog has been used for breeding. It also seems to have a hereditary factor. Like Fanconi, it is very important to know exactly what is in a dog's pedigree, so as to decrease the chances of this disease developing in your pup as much as possible. But like Fanconi, there can be no guarantee.

Umbilical Hernia: Many basenjis have umbilical hernias, and though not cause for alarm, are easily fixed when the dog is spayed or neutered. Ideally breeders would love to not have to deal with this, but our gene pool is so small, we cannot afford to eliminate dogs from the gene pool who have umbilical hernias.

Hip Dysplasia: In this disease, the ball and socket of the hip joint are not formed correctly. Many people are surprised to learn that some basenjis, despite their small size, develop this disease. But I personally know of dogs who have had to have their hips replaced. Not only a painful condition, but an expensive surgery to correct. As in other breeds, it has a hereditary factor, so it is important for breeders to test all their breeding stock, and only breed those animals clear of the disease.
When looking for a basenji, be sure to ask the breeder about these health problems. Most will supply you with much more information than I have offered here. Be sure to ask to see written documentation of tests done. Unfortunately, as with anything in life, there are those who are not honest.

If a breeders says these tests are unnecessary, or there are no problems in their lines, be very leery. If health tests aren't being performed, it can't be known what is there. In my opinion, there is no reason for dogs to be bred that have not been tested. It is up to you to determine how important the health tests are, a decision you can only make wisely if you educate yourself.

##Height and Weight of Basenji Dog##

These animals are very clean smell not lose hardly any hair and require very little maintenance. Because Basenjis are relatively sensitive to cold, they should be kept indoors or at home. The females of the breed only once a year on heat. Basenjis need much exercise and employment, especially if one considers the Basenji in the city. This breed requires the holder to some "dog sense" from, a Basenji is not suitable for beginners. The essence of this breed is best described as follows: In the native environment (eg at home) are generally left Basenjis, but always carefully follow the events to be immediately ready to jump when something of interest announced. Outdoors unfolds its sporting heritage. Then they love to run, and can hardly be deterred by some of their current "plans". Basenjis are very stubborn and usually try to push their own needs to the forefront. In any case, the education is only possible on the basis of a very strong trust relationship with his people and a stable and clear pecking order. For the education you have, especially in the early years, need much time and bring a lot of patience.

###Basenji is a handsome dog###

with a smooth, shiny coat and a sharp, intelligent expression. The coat of this breed comes in various colors: black and tan, black and brindle, copper or red. Some Basenjis have a white blaze on their faces, and they also have a furrowed brow, often making them look as thought they are constantly worried. The Basenji has a distinctive tail that curls upwards, and this breed has erect, elongated ears.

This breed is unusual in that it doesn’t tend to bark. Instead, the Basenji uses his vocals to growl, howl and produce a repertoire of other sounds, which will depend on what he is trying to say and how he feels.

^^Basenji is a very affectionate and intelligent dog with a playful and curious streak.

This breed is alert and energetic, and most Basenjis are eager to please their owners. This breed is probably better with older children rather than in families with young children that may tease and taunt it; the breed is also not always suited to cats and other pets unless it has been thoroughly socialized. They may get on okay with other canines, but dominance can play a part in aggressive behavior here. However, this breed does not tend to fight amongst one another, so a Basenji should get on well with others of the same breed. A frisky breed, the Basenji is a dedicated chewer, so you should bear this in mind when taking him in to your home and deciding on appropriate toys.
